Default Signet of Capture before Ascension?

I am in Riverside Province. I've talked to a few NPCs that are supposed to have the Signet of Capture (based on other threads on this site) but they don't offer it to me.

Can you get the SoC before Ascension or is it only available after?

The first time you get it is in a quest in Lion's Arch. Can't recall the NPC that gives it to you.

Actually... Quarrel falls has a skills guy who sells SOC to you. But yes, the first SOC is availible in LA, i don't believe it's buyable though... get it once in a quest.

I bought my first SoC in Beetletun or Bergen Hot-Springs (forget which)

You can get it in Quarell falls as well.

If you complete the Lion's Arch quest, he'll start selling them to you.

correct.. all the skill trainers will not offer this to you for sale untill you at least get the quest from the guy in Lions Gate. he is on the top of the hill right in front of the Skill Trainer there.

In LA the guys name is Magi Malaquire or something like that. You have to do one quest for him for xp. When you finish he will offer the signet quest. Once you capture something he will give you another signet for reward.

Otherwise you can start buying them around Dagger Falls from all the skill trainers.

Do this mean you can get a new signet from the guy every time you capture a new skill - or just once ?

I've just got it here;

Just once. After that you have to buy them.

I never did that quest and I can still buy SoC's from either Beetletun or Bergon hot springs.

Actually, Magi Malaguire gives you TWO free SoCs if I remember right. The quest is for you to 'test' a new Signet design he has, so you do that and keep the captured spell.

Then he gives you a reward of another signet.

After that you have to buy them.

I could be wrong, but I think this is what happens.

Default Cap Sig: buying before completing quest

I do not believe so. Signet of Captures weren't available to me till the quest was complete. I would volunteer that there is no reason not to do the quest other than, "I don't want to." Good luck.

You can actually buy it before the quest, however you are right there is no reason to not do the quest. The quest tosses you a free one you dont have to use it until you get to desset to get elites if you want to be that way, then you go back to LA real quick get the minimal xp from quest and he tosses you another signet. All free of charge, silly not to do the quest IMO.

Not entirely true...

I did a horrible thing and had one of my characters rushed to Droknar's... yaya I suck.

Turns out the Skill Trainer there had a Capture Sig ready And I hadn't reached Lion's Arch yet.

I purchased all of my capture sigs from a skills vendor before I even realized I could earn one in a quest.
